Procedures to shut down the sprinkler system and prepare for Winterization ( Fall )

All systems in our part of the country must use the "Blow Out " method of removing all water from the system.
An air compressor yielding no less than 30 cfm at 90 psi must be used to evacuate all water from the system.
Kindly turn the sprinkler water valve, typically marked with a large yellow tag in the basement by the water meter, to the OFF position.
Now you are ready to request Winterizing service via email. Please mention that your water is on and you are ready.

 
Procedures to Open the sprinkler system and prepare for Spring Service ( After April 15th )
 
Please turn the sprinkler water valve, typically marked with a yellow tag, in the basement  to the "ON" position
Go outside and close the drain valve, usually located where the water pipe from inside the basement exits below the pressure vacuum breaker.  The drain valve, sometimes called a boiler drain, looks like a hose faucet.
Now you are ready to request spring service via email. Please mention that your water is on and you are ready.

 
Service Request procedures
To request service please follow the procedures above for winterizing or Spring service.  If this is an emergency call then please note as such on your request.
 
Note:  All service request emails are automatically entered into our call management and routing system upon receipt in real time. If you are requesting a spring or fall service you must note that your water is ON or OFF accordingly and your name and address. Our system scans all incoming emails and looks for those key words.  Please do not call or send multiple emails as it will cancel out a previous service order and generate a new service request. This results in a significant delay of your service.  Service calls are routed via town and sector to maximize efficiency.  Sprinkler systems installed by Dowd Irrigation do not require an specific appointment for servicing and may be done without someone home.
